FRIDAY
After asking several of my friends (thanks for replying guys -_-) I recruited Little S (who happily accepted) to catch a 7:30 bus to go lift heavy boxes with me. We had decided to catch the 7:30 ish bus (rather than the 7:15 ish bus) as we figured 5 mins would be plenty of time to get to our connecting bus in the city. Our bus was running over 5 minutes late. Traffic was ridic. Little S frequently checked the time, as we tried to predict whether there was any way to make our connecting bus. She also looked up alternate routes. I'm sure you'll be glad to hear that although our bus got there 5 minutes late, our connecting bus was also late, so luckily we made it.
Being unfamiliar with the destination to which we were heading, Little S consulted google maps, and after 20 mins or so we dinged le bell and got off. We approached what I believed to be our destination (SC box sorting headquarters), however we approached it tentatively as Little S feared it was actually a dungeon of sorts. Luckily I was correct.
So after introductions we formed a human chain and began passing boxes out to the truck, managing to make a sizeable dent in what was a room literally packed from floor to ceiling with boxes of books (that will later be sold to benefit SCA). Our workforce consisted of: 2 small asian girls, a 70 year old man, a couple of middle aged guys, 2 youngish women and for half the time a youngish guy. Not exactly a weight lifting team. The weather forecast for that day was 36 degrees and even by 9-10am it was pretty warm. My face was dripping with sweat as my
The SC volunteers are a great bunch though. One of the best things about volunteering is definitely all of the great people you get to meet.
And I am glad to say my arms/shoulders have finally recovered.
Afterwards we skipped around at uni and I picked up my model to take home.
OH AND I ALMOST FORGOT. That morning we discovered that we had the wrong mobile numbers for each other. So all this time when she thought she'd been messaging me about getting some T&A she was really messaging some unknown person, who probably thinks she is a big perve. Classic Little S. Made my day.
WEEKEND
Uneventful. Tried to rest.
Oh, but Sunday night I made dinner. (ME COOKING??!! YES TIS TRUE. HOUSE IS STILL STANDING)
I made lentil rissoles (vegetarian of course)
They were a bit of a fail because I had to cook them quickly (and didn't leave them in the fridge to firm for long enough) as I wanted to be seated to watch New Girl. So half of the first batch fell apart in the pan (like a fool I was using wooden chopsticks to turn them, after switching to tongs it wasn't so bad) They were a little too oily (recipe said to deep fry, but I shallow fried) and breadcrumby for my taste, but they were aight. I did the second batch yesterday in the oven, they were better.
YESTERDAY
Salvos in the morning.
Work in the afternoon.
TODAY
Went on a morning walk with Junaberry as per usual.
As we walked she points out this car 'Oh look it's my parents, LET'S WAVE!!' *starts waving*
It wasn't her parents.
Later on I'm going to a RRAN meeting to paint banners and do further planning for O'Day.
Tomorrow I'm going for dim sum.
Catch you homies on the flip side.
